Outlook/Hotmail handling of HPAA emails.
(Jul 9, 2022)
Outlook/Hotmail treats all
Google Groups emails -- regardless of content -- as
suspicious and moves them to the "Junk Email" folder, which
is readily visible. Clicking "Not Junk" only moves the
specific messages; does not affect handling of future
messages.
Two solutions that work...
1. Set up a rule
Gear icon at top of page > "View
all Outlook settings" bottom of right side > Rules > "Add
new rule"
Subject includes HPAA
Select "Move to" > New folder. > Enter new folder name, such
as "HPAA" > Save
It creates the new folder
automatically
(Must remember to click "Save" at bottom of popup.)
This rule works because we
include "HPAA" in the subject line prefix setting on every
group.
2. Add to Safe Mailing Lists
Gear icon at top of page > "View
all Outlook settings" bottom of right side > "Junk email" in
center menu > "Safe mailing lists"
Add entries for...
hpalumni-benefits@googlegroups.com
hpalumni-finance@googlegroups.com
hpalumni-news@googlegroups.com
Click "Add" each time -- and
must remember to click "Save" at bottom of popup
Each HPAA member would have to add another entry when we add
a new Google Group.
