Step 3.  Set up LinkedIn (optional)

LinkedIn is the leading professional networking system. The HPAA operates an optional HP Alumni group on LinkedIn. (For more information on LinkedIn and HPAA networking, click here.)

Yahoo and LinkedIn are separate industry-standard services. Each requires a separate login. Please use the same email address for all of your HPAA memberships.

Our volunteers can't add you to the HP Alumni group on LinkedIn – you have to make a request through the LinkedIn system.

If you have a profile on LinkedIn, follow these two steps:

  • Go to your account on LinkedIn. Check "Email Addresses" under "Account & Settings" to be sure that the email address you use for your HPAA membership is shown as a primary or secondary address on your LinkedIn account. Be sure that the address is marked "Confirmed" by LinkedIn. (LinkedIn does not make your secondary email address visible to anyone – it is used only to synchronize memberships.)

  • Go to the HP Alumni page on LinkedIn and click the "Join this group" button. Please note that it can take a day or two for the separate LinkedIn and Yahoo systems to get synchronized.

If you do not have a profile on LinkedIn, you can go to the HP Alumni page on LinkedIn and join LinkedIn at no charge. Please note that it can take a day or two for the separate LinkedIn and Yahoo systems to get synchronized.

What happens next?  The HP Alumni logo will appear on your LinkedIn Profile.
