If you already have a LinkedIn
account, this is a good opportunity to be sure that the email addresses
on your LinkedIn account are current. Job leads, requests to connect, and
other communications from LinkedIn go to the primary email address on your
LinkedIn account.

Go to
LinkedIn
and log in |
|
2. |
Click "Accounts & Settings" in the upper right
corner, then "Email Addresses" in the right-hand column. |

Check that all of your
current email addresses – including the
email you use for your HPAA membership – are shown as either primary or secondary
confirmed addresses on your LinkedIn
account.

Job leads, requests to connect, and
other communications from LinkedIn go to the primary email address.
A secondary address ensures
that you receive requests to connect and other communications from people who know you by
that address.

(If you are in the UK
or Germany and use Google for your email, put
both forms of your email address on your LinkedIn
account. The @googlemail.com version as your primary
address – and the
@gmail.com version as your secondary address.) |

If you do not already have a
LinkedIn account, setting one up is quick and easy. |

set up your account,
include all of your

will send an email to you asking you to confirm your
email address in order to activate your account.

Once your HPAA membership has
been processed, you will receive one or two pre‑approved
invitations to join the HPAA's two LinkedIn
groups. These invitations will appear in the Inbox on
your LinkedIn account. LinkedIn will also send emails to
the primary address on your LinkedIn account. |

The "HP Alumni" group is limited to HPAA members. |
|
2. |
The much larger "HP Connections" group
is open to current and former employees of HP, HP
acquisitions, and HP spinoffs. |

Accept
the invitations for both groups
– many "HP Alumni"
members are not members of "HP Connections."
|
|
If you are already a member of
"HP Connections" on LinkedIn but receive an invitation to
join that group,
click here to sync-up your HPAA membership with your LinkedIn
account.

What happens next?
Allow a few days for our volunteers to get the HPAA groups
on
LinkedIn and Yahoo synchronized. Then, both the "HP
Alumni" and "HP Connections" logos will
appear on your LinkedIn Profile. |
